Packaging waste

Supporting the negotiating delegation of the packaging industry in the establishment of the first Framework Agreement on Packaging and Litter with the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) and the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM). The subject of the negotiation was how the industry would implement the introduced producer responsibility for packaging waste and prevention of litter. Among other things, the agreement led to the establishment of Stichting Nedvang as the implementing organization for industry, the Stichting Afvalfonds Verpakkingen as the financing organization and the introduction of separate collection and post-separation of plastic packaging, as an alternative to deposits on bottles and cans.
